Challah cover featuring a tone-on-tone Seven Species print in subtle layered shades, designed to cover the challah during Shabbat and holiday meals while bringing a symbolic presence to the ritual table.

Symbol & Tradition

Inspired by the Seven Species of the Land of Israel,  wheat, barley, grapevine, fig, pomegranate, olive, and date, this Challah Cover transforms the ritual table into a space of abundance, memory, and shared blessing.

In Jewish tradition, the challah represents nourishment, sustenance, and the sacred dimension of gathering. Covering the bread before the blessing is a gesture of dignity and intention, a moment of pause before revelation and sharing.

The Seven Species motif brings an additional layer of symbolism to the ritual:

  • wheat and barley evoke the foundations of nourishment,
  • grapes symbolize joy and sanctification,
  • figs and dates speak of sweetness and spiritual wisdom,
  • olives represent peace and continuity,
  • pomegranates embody abundance and transmission.

Softly integrated into the textile, the print creates a visual language rooted in the land of Israel and its timeless symbols of blessing and renewal.

Placed at the center of the Shabbat or holiday table, the cover becomes more than a ritual textile. It becomes a vessel of memory and celebration, linking the beauty of the land to the beauty of gathering.

Designed to accompany moments of transmission, hospitality, and festive meals, the Seven Species Challah Cover brings warmth, symbolism, and quiet refinement to the contemporary table.

Textile Block Print Craftmanship

Our Seven Species textiles are created using the ancient art of hand block printing, a traditional craft that celebrates both the beauty of the handmade and the richness of imperfection.

The motif, inspired by the Seven Species of the Land of Israel, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates is printed by hand using carved wooden blocks. Each impression is applied individually, giving every piece its own subtle variations and character.

Featured across our table linens and textiles, the Seven Species pattern is a celebration of abundance, hospitality and the joy of gathering around the table. It brings together a timeless artisanal technique and a deeply meaningful symbol of blessing and transmission.

Made by hand, each printed piece carries the memory of the artisan's gesture and the enduring poetry of the Seven Species.
